About the Choir

The Fareham Philharmonic Choir has been making music in Fareham for over a hundred years. In that time its membership has ranged from eleven people immediately after the second world war to a hundred people at the time of our centenary in 1999. Currently there are about 85 of us, and we always welcome new people - especially tenors!

Under the musical direction of Colin Davey we sing a variety of classical music, from Mozart and Bach to Britten and Finzi. Sometimes we venture into the world of stage, film and popular music, and our Christmas carol concert is always sold out. We have also given the first performances of several works written especially for us.

Most of all, we are a friendly group who enjoy performing music to a high and an ever-improving standard, and anyone who loves to sing is more than welcome. We hope to hear from you soon!
