Brighton Early Music Festival – 10-26 October 2025

Brighton Early Music Festival returns this autumn with more than 20 events across the city, kicking off with pre-festival participatory and family events from 20 September, including a choral and an instrumental workshop and concerts for pre-schoolers with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

The main festival events are grouped around 3 weekends, each offering an attractive programme for those from further away to combine with a weekend break.

Highlights include:
  - the UK premiere of 1736 French baroque opera Les Caractères de l’Amourby Mlle Duval (10 October);
  - a SongPath walk with music in Stanmer Park (18 October);
  - a music and spoken word programme from Vache Baroque which takes its inspiration from the writings of Oscar Wilde and includes music by Purcell and Zelenka (24 October),
  - La Fonte Musica visiting from Italy with Monteverdi’s Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda (25 October)
  - a Lieder programme featuring mezzo-soprano Helen Charlston with the Consone Quartet (26 October).
